Get Rid of Heartburn By Treating The Cause

Once you treat the heartburn cause, you will eventually cure heartburn.  So, what causes heartburn?

Heartburn is usually caused by damage to the lower esophageal sphincter (LES).  This is a muscle that opens and closes the stomach.  Once it stops working properly, the sphincter can remain open and allow stomach acid to splash back into the esophagus, where it will irritate the lining and cause heartburn.

If you start suffering from heartburn more than 2-3 times a week, you might have acid reflux, or chronic heartburn.

Diet and beverages can strengthen the sphincter.  The following teas have the ability to heal this important muscle.

Natural Relief for Acid Reflux With Teas

1. Green tea and honey – Honey can trigger the healing of tissues, such as the sphincter’s tissue.  Green tea, in decaffeinated form, relieves stomach troubles and helps stimulate digestion.  Add a teaspoon of honey to the tea and enjoy.

2. Herbal teas – Various herbal teas can remedy heartburn and acid reflux (chronic heartburn).  One such tea is made with chicory root, to which you can also add honey.  Chamomile and fennel teas can also be effective.  These teas all aid digestion and reduce reflux.

3. Baking soda tea – This is another remedy for hiatus hernias and GERD (acid reflux).  Heat some water and add a teaspoon of baking soda to a cup of water.  Baking soda raises the pH level in the body, making it more alkaline.  This neutralizes the stomach acids, reducing the chances of heartburn.

4. Aloe vera – It’s a good idea to add aloe vera to green teas.  Aloe vera has long been used to heal all types of tissue.
